Michele Carra, a sculptor, and painter, began her art career in 1985. Prior to that time, Michele studied music at Shepherd College, WV, and played bassoon in the Millbrook Orchestra in Virginia for several years, when an illness forced her to abandon her music career.

Michele’s first projects included painting commissioned pet portraits. Her first sculpture was commissioned in 1991 when she created a horse sculpture, using only photographs for reference. Her client was overjoyed with the finished project, exclaiming that the sculpture brought her beloved horse back to life. Encouraged by this client’s praise, Michele continued to sculpt both commissioned and non-commissioned pieces.

Michele’s clients agree that her ability to express the spirit and true essence of her subjects is unparalleled.

Recently Michele has focused her efforts on creating intricate designs on river stone and bone, which she then fashions into jewelry. Michele continues to create sculptures and jewelry in a variety of mediums, including bronze.

Michele’s work is currently on display in numerous locations throughout the Shenandoah Valley, including Gallery One in Winchester, Virginia, and also at Earthworks Gallery & Studio in Penn Yann, NY.
